Hey everyone!
Let me start off by saying I hope everyone is staying safe and having some peace of mind during this time. I'll admit, with the pandemic and anti-racist protests going on in our country, I've found it very difficult to be a black woman on the internet lately. I've taken many social media breaks on and off the past few weeks. But, I've been finding solace in little things while things are getting back to normal. I'm expected to return to work next week, and I wanted to show you guys some of the things I've picked up while I haven't been working! I even made it into a little summertime photoshoot. I was inspired by the French fashion designer Jacquemus and his style of bright and playful photography. You can check his Insta for more cool snaps of his work! Now let's get into the mini haul!
Denim Shorts
It's getting hot outside and even though I didn't plan on leaving the house much other than the occasional wine run, I needed a valid excuse to participate in Urban Outfitters' shorts sale. I got two pairs that I think I'll be wearing in heavy rotation. The first pair pictured above is the BDG High Waisted A-Line Cutoff Shorts. I liked the look of an A-line because I don't like anything too tight on my legs so I figured the A-line silhouette would suit me. At first, I wasn't used to the higher waist on me. Since my torso is short I try to avoid high waist to avoid looking too long but these shorts stop at a very flattering point for my frame. I've been wearing these with tied tops or crop tops. but wearing a baggy t-shirt would be just fine too! I also love how easy it was to break these in since new denim feels stiff at first.
The second pair I got was Levi's High-Waisted Wide Leg Shorts. To be honest, I felt like the wide leg was not wide enough to my personal liking....but the super light blue is a color I thought was unique and something I could wear with any color top I want. Again, the high waist flatters me and isn't all the way up to my ribcage. I'm also still breaking these in, so I find they're not as soft as the BDG pair. But maybe with more wears, I'll have a change of heart!
Parade Underwear and Scarf
If you've never heard of Parade, go ahead and take a quick peek at their website. They make sustainable underwear in a great range of styles, inclusive sizes, and drop new incredible colors every two weeks or so. They're also donating proceeds from sales to bail funds, corona relief efforts, and Planned Parenthood, so your money is going to directly help causes that matter. I won't be showing the undies I bought but take my word that they're very comfy! I did get a fun printed silk scarf from them as well. I kept seeing it all over Instagram and grabbed one when it went back in stock. You could wear it as a top or tied around your hair but lately, I've been just tying it onto my purse if I don't use it on my hair.
Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask
I know this isn't a fashion item but I couldn't resist the opportunity to take an artsy shot of this mask. In quarantine, I've focused on learning more about skincare, and this mask not only looks cute, but it's also very moisturizing and gives my skin a little boost when I feel like it's feeling dull.
That concludes the end of my little mini haul! I'll admit I didn't shop nearly as much as I would have thought I would with all this free time but I also know buying isn't a super high priority for everyone. I hope you enjoyed the pictures, and let me know if you've been online shopping too!
Until next time!
Angela
Beautiful scarf. I hadn't heard of Parade before. Tell me about that purse.
