Valentine's Day is coming up, ladies! It's always been my favorite holiday not because of the theme of love but because everything is pink and heart shaped and floral, which is how I wish every day was like. And Valentine's Day is an excuse to get all dressed up with a significant other/your friends and look as sweet as a box of Godiva chocolates.
I decided that this would be a cool opportunity to style my favorite couple in the universe to get some date night inspiration. Taylor and Ravyn have been dating for 6 months even though being around them they seem like they've been together for years.
So here's the real mystery: what do you wear when you have to meet your Valentine for dinner in a few days? Let me give you some guidance...
Taylor and I became close friends when we started working together at our local department store. She absolutely loves fashion, so going through her closet was a dream come true! I picked two outfits for her and two different tops for Ravyn to coordinate with Taylor. Events with your SO are the only time you can compliment your partners outfit without it coming off as corny.
For Taylor's first look, I went for something a bit flashy and fun. You can easily pair any kind of top or blouse with a long metallic skirt to make it more formal. The finish of the skirt can compensate for any other flashy accessories, so a simple pendant and classic black pumps can bring the whole outfit together.

Ravyn tends to keep it more casual than Taylor does. I chose a pink top to coordinate with the Valentine's Day theme, but really the ripped jeans and boots make it a great date night outfit. Keeping denim and shoes a darker color make them seem more formal, so it doesn't come off as lazy.

For the second round of outfits, I still wanted both of them to coordinate with colors and find a more casual kind of look. Ravyn's top compliments the flowers on Taylor's kimono nicely and makes them look cohesive. I swapped Taylor's skirt for a velvet dress and tights. Playing with texture can also make a casual dress more date night appropriate without going over the top. Another way to make a dressier outfit less intimidating is by swapping out the shoes. Taylor's roommate had these killer Doc Marten boots that I think looks super cool with the dress and kimono. They're edgy but still has solid color and still has some kind of heel. This way you get the same leg elongation that a strappy pump would give but without all the fuss.

Taylor: Old Navy dress | Miss Selfridge kimono | Doc Martens boots | Kate Spade necklace
No matter your plans for the 14th, I hope you choose to try some romantic colors (pink, deep jewel tones, etc.) and some sort of heel or boot. When you dress up like you care, it shows your partner that you care and that's really what it's all about (aside from kisses and cuddles and red candies).
